Brilliant.

The Movie. Review

A brilliant film whose game goes from pretending to deceive us and seeming like a genre film to find its style within the archetypes of the characters locked in its frames (yes, it deserves a whole explanation).

Jane Campion begins by playing tricks on us with a western and continues in the Upton Sinclair style, just to return to the footprints of The Piano. Then, he hits a Clint Eastwood-style character and poses a whole meta-cinematic game to return to the literary (once again in his brilliant career). Finally, he achieves that personal style that many seek, few find and that, after all, makes you a true “author” in whatever artistic field.

It is dark, different and flickers between cruelty and sensitivity. It is built on extremes and on deceptions and appearances, on a hypnotic rhythm, apart from the rest.

It is, in a single word: special.

When you produce that much, not all of them can be masterpieces (obviously this goes for Netflix). But this movie takes up the cudgels for the streaming giant and redeems it this Christmas.

Brilliant, different, full of ideas and concepts. A game between light and darkness.
